Pros and Cons of Coaching that You Must Know Before You Start
My experience walking away from corporate life
Walking away from corporate life was a scary decision to make but an extremely necessary one for my personal and business journey.
Did you ever have that moment where your stomach drops and you realise that your dreams for this corporate career path you were on aren’t going to happen?
No matter how many times you ask, or work for it, or wish for it?
It just won’t happen!
I remember my moment so clearly.
I was looking at my director’s face, while she told me there was no funding for my progression, and there was literally nothing I could do.
I remember thinking on the way back to my desk, “That was the whole purpose of me being in this job. That was why I stayed, that’s what I needed to move forward in the direction I wanted to. How can they now break their promise?”
As I got home that night I was still in shock.
The worst part about the whole thing, are you ready for it, was that I did nothing about this news for another year. NOTHING!
In life, you are always hit with unexpected jabs that can come from anywhere at any time.
The ONLY thing that makes a difference is how you react.
For me, it was to go on as nothing had happened. Coincidentally one of my pet peeves is wasted time! And like with all frustrations they start at home.
Yes, I was the biggest culprit of wasting my own damn time.
If you love to journal, I would use this question – What do I see in others that is frustrating that I also do? (If you want more, here are my journaling prompts.)
However, the things that were stopping me from walking away from corporate life are the same as so many of my clients.
“Walking away from corporate life isn’t possible because I won’t make as much”

“Walking away from corporate life isn’t possible because I won’t make as much”

The first obstacle that stops nearly everyone from walking away from corporate life is always money.
You can make the same amount of money or more anywhere you go. Yes, you have to find that income somewhere else, but it is possible.
It can happen and you need to work to find it. What I want you to remember is that your mental health is more important.
You are not in a good place when, on your way to work you are already dreading it, or when the colleague’s name pops up in your inbox, and your whole body cringes.
This is not good for your mind, or your body.
I am here to tell you when you need money, it will be there for you.
I know it’s hard to understand this concept, but I 100% would not be here if money didn’t show up when I needed it, and when it was for my higher good.
“I can’t start walking away from corporate life because I don’t know where I would go”
I have to tell you that it doesn’t matter where you go, as long as you are choosing yourself over anything else.
You may think that walking away from corporate life will be a waste of the years that you have spent trying so hard in your current position and company.
I know this already because you are reading this post because you want more from your life than working your 9-5.
Wanting more and walking away from corporate life means you have to work harder for it. Literally, double what you’re working currently.
Because you have to make the money the way you currently know-how, and then make your side hustle / next step work too.
It’s never meant to be easy, like with everything there is a learning curve, and it’s up to you how long that learning curve takes.
You need to believe in your ability to create the best side hustle you possibly can before it comes to fruition.
If you think you cannot learn something new, I already know you are lying to yourself, and you are believing your limiting beliefs over your strengths.
We all have the capability of learning new tricks and tips. Think about the first time you returned something online, or you used a new dating app, you can learn anything if you put your mind to it.

So why not for growing a side hustle that will build your dreams while walking away from corporate life?
To start your journey walking away from corporate life, there’s one thing you must know first
You are meant to succeed in your own way.
Your ideas come to you specifically for a reason, and you are the one that is meant to succeed in the area you are drawn to.
This is a universal fact!
What really needs to happen is unblocking those limiting beliefs that keep you closer to what you already know and away from learning new actions that will support your growth.
Becoming aware of your limiting beliefs and knowing how to sidestep them is key to your growth in the future.
Some people can feel like they are too old to start over, and I can tell you that the amount of people who have redirected their career when it was becoming stagnant is in the millions.
You are never too old, and you are never too uneducated to start again.
But remember, when you’re walking away from corporate life, you are not starting from scratch.
You have more than you know within you. This is all about growing your confidence to keep going even though you don’t know where you are going yet. You have the skills within you that you have already learnt by coming this far.
Walking away from corporate life can happen in baby steps
I suggest when walking away from corporate life, you take baby steps first so you can develop your confidence gradually. So you can really take your time in deciding where you go, and discover what you really need out of your next stage in life.
No one climbs a mountain on the first day of training. You have to work up to it, and each of those baby steps will teach you something new.
This is how you learn the things you need to know for your journey. Action is the only way you will really build that self-awareness that you need to drop the self-sabotaging actions you have built over the years.
Inaction will simply waste more time, and make you feel worse about never going for it. I’ve heard so many stories from people who knew what they wanted to do years ago, but let life dictate what they actually went for.
If you are at the stage of wanting to leave your job and start walking away from corporate life, you have already waited too long.

Now is the time.
It doesn’t matter how many years you have put in, and you already know there is another adventure out there waiting for you.

Time is not something that you can negotiate with or save up. It is constantly running, and you can either change with it or stay where you are.
It’s always up to you, it’s always up to YOU.
Sometimes you can weigh up your options and think that you have it so good, that there can’t possibly be a chance you could have the same anywhere else.
But this is not true.
There is so much better out there for you, and the reason you want more is why you need to strive for more.
So start to believe in yourself and build your self-worth.
Believe you deserve more in life because you do.
If you want to know how to build your self-worth, book a call with me.
